This web site is dedicated to the River Lyde, in Hampshire. The main object of the site is to improve the care and knowledge of this little known chalk stream.

This site is open to anyone who wants to contribute.  If you live alongside the river please e-mail some images in of your stretch. Are you aware of the creatures that live in the river? or the plants that thrive along its banks.  If we could create a list of all the flora and fauna, that would in itself bring the whole place to life.

Certain areas along the river do need some attention. There are many fallen trees and an abundance of weeds which are slowing down the flow and causing some silting.

It has been suggested that the river is also polluted.  I cannot comment on this without definitive proof but maybe by highlighting and taking notice of this river, we can cross this bridge when we come to it.
